Superhero play can be positive

In a recent article by Day Nurseries, Julia Sudbury, PACEY (Professional Association for Childcare and Early Years) Associate, who spoke at the recent Childcare Expo in London about the benefits of superhero play, thinks that rather than being a negative thing, superhero play can be harnessed and used in a positive way. This contrasts to the negativity towards superhero play which has led to some nurseries banning children using toy weapons and wearing superhero costumes. ‘We have been at the nursery since it was opened, both our children have gone there. Both from the age of six months through to starting school. We have been very impressed with the nursery from day one and both the children have gained so much from being there. It will feel strange not going there when our daughter starts school next year.'
